Term 3 Information

During Term 3 we will have a focus on the stories of Katie Morag. This will include map skills, directional language and comparing and contrasting island and mainland life. We will also include this within our literacy by focusing on story mapping, adjectives to describe characters/setting and letter writing. Children will receive their new reading books on a Friday and should be returned on the Monday to be used in class. These will be changed as and when children feel confident decoding and comprehending the book they are on. In numeracy we will be focusing on addition and subtraction and will have a topic maths focus on Time.

In Primary 2 we are always very excited to share our wider achievements with the class. If there is any exciting news going on outside class that children would like to share, then photos and information can be sent to my email address to support sharing this with the class. I can be reached at seona.mackenzie@highland.gov.uk. Success comes in all shapes and forms and can range from learning to tie shoes or a piece of art to taking part in competitions of all kinds.

Miss M 🙂

Happy New Year !

We are straight back to work in Primary 2 and very happy to reunite with each other. Today we revised ordering numbers and played a couple of games to remind us of this. We are also practising our sentence writing by remembering to use our capital letters, full stops and finger spaces. It’s been a great start so far P2 and I look forward to a fantastic term with you all.

Money!

Primary 2 have been recapping and learning lots about money! We have been identifying coins and comparing how the different coins look. We have also been finding different ways to make the same amount. Great work P2!

Tickets for Bah Humbug!

molblog's avatarMilton of Leys Primary School

Letters about ordering tickets for our school panto went out to all pupils yesterday and everyone is welcome to purchase tickets and come along– it will be a great show and definitely get you in the festive mood! 🙂 Ticket orders should be put in to either your child’s teacher or the school office this week.

Just a reminder that there is a 2 ticket limit for each family group just now to make it fair for everyone to have the chance to purchase tickets. So please only order 2 tickets. If you order more/pay more, you will be refunded and given your 2 ticket allocation.

However, as in previous years, we are fairly certain that next week we will be able to offer more tickets once we gave an idea of how many seats are still available. A further letter will go home about this next week…

Dress Down for Chocolate Day

molblog's avatarMilton of Leys Primary School

Please don’t forget – tomorrow we have our house morning and MOL’s first ever Dress Down for Chocolate Day!

To support the Parent Council Christmas Fayre we are asking that each child brings a small donation of chocolate or sweets for the tombola at the fayre this Saturday.

Funds from Parent Council organised events such as the Christmas Fayre go towards supporting every child at the school in many different ways throughout the year, including at this time of year the Christmas parties for all pupils and gifts for children from nursery-P2.

House captains are busy organising tomorrow’s house morning and pupils can come to school in their own non-uniform clothes and wearing their house colours if they choose.

Thank you in advance for your support – we’re looking forward to seeing everyone dressed down and supporting the Parent Council at the same time. Thank you.

French Sweeties!

Thank you very much to our French partner school for gifting us some YUMMY sweeties. We have enjoyed tasting the different sweet treats on the run up to Halloween! We look forward to working more with our French partner school. C’est tres excellente!

Literacy!

We did Literacy time a little differently this week. We rotated around different stations and practiced various skills. We had a phonic station, handwriting station, reading station and teacher station! Everyone worked stupendously hard – well done!
